This hill side deck is designed for easier kitchen access to outside with new vinyl sliders
We used 10" piers & 12x12x12 footers to proper depth with the slope,
1/2" rebar 2 vert 4 horiz w/ a 5/8 AB to the ABU44z post bases

This deck was designed by us for the customers.
The rear property slope was close to 45 degrees which creates a challenge when designing for our local #4 earthquake zone. Also it was in a fairly new subdivision so not too much room to the set backs. In the rear there was also a city encroachment from the rear road we had to take into account. We also ran in to some local height restrictions of 15' for the deck pergola? So as we went down the slope we had to keep the pergola back more than we would have liked
We decided to go with Trex on this project as it was located in a very sunny location, and due to the longevity the fact that Trex is a recycled green product and finally the look of the project.
We also decided to use redwood for post and rails as the owners were looking for a stable staining product, if it's a tight budget we can use doug fir, but it doesn't have the stability of Redwood.

The final design turned out really good considering the limitations put on us and the homeowners were quite happy with the final result.
